Center for Islamic Manuscripts
The central area of the research work of the Center for Islamic Manuscripts is the study of the handwritten Arabographic heritage of the peoples of the East, represented by various collections in Russia and around the world, and above all by the Institute's collection.
The scientific work of the Center is concentrated in the following areas:
- research and publication of the handwritten heritage of the peoples of the East in Arabic, Persian and Turkic languages;
- ensuring the safety of the Institute's manuscript collection;
- digitization and cataloging of manuscripts;
- providing access to electronic resources and databases on various handwritten collections.
An important area of the Center's work is archaeological expeditions aimed at identifying and describing the Islamic handwritten heritage in the Russian Federation and beyond.
