Military service: USSR armed forces (1977-1979).
Married, has two children.
Education
Leningrad State University and Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Soviet Union. Doctor of History.
Civil service:
- Various state ministries and agencies, including Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia (1980-1994).
Business activity:
- Member of the Board, Vice-president of “Volga-Dnepr” airline company (1995-1998).
- General Director of Russia-ASEAN Cooperation Fund. Member of the Commission of the Russian Federation for ASEAN Affairs and the Russian Governmental Commission for APEC Participation (1998-2002). Member of Russian - ASEAN Eminent Persons Group (nomination of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia in 2015).
- Deputy Director General for Marketing and External Relations of Irkut Corporation (2000-2023), Executive Director for Marketing of the United Aircrafts Corporation (2023-2024).
- Chairman of Business Council for Cooperation with Malaysia (since 2013).
Science activity:
- Deputy Director for Development of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences (2015-2020).
