The All-Russian conference with the international participation "The Eastern Europe in the Antiquity and the Middle Ages" was held on April the 14th-16th, 2021.

At the conference the 13th readings were held. The readings were conducted in the memory of Vladimir Pashuto, the corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences. The readings were called "The Religion Role in the Sociocultural Practices and Ideas Formation".

Within the framework of the conference several questions were raised. These issues were on the role of religious factors in the formation and development of the state, society, economy, and culture.

Particular attention was paid to the following issues:

    The transition from polytheism to monotheism in connection with the politogenesis processes;

    The ratio of religious and other factors in the political culture formation and economic practices of Antiquity and the Middle Ages people;

    The role of religious beliefs, practical knowledge, and other factors in the world image formation during the Antiquity and the Middle Ages;

    Religious factors in written culture and literature formation;

    Cults, rituals, and priests;

    The ratio of religious beliefs, historical reality, folklore, and literature creativity in the ancient and the medieval texts.

The following researchers of the Oriental History Department of the Institute of Oriental Studies took part in the conference:

D.M. Timokhin, the candidate of historical sciences, the senior researcher, made a report “Khoresm Religious and Political Elite on the Mongol Invasion Eve: Interaction and Confrontation Experience”; 

Yu.I. Drobyshev, the candidate of historical sciences, the senior researcher spoke on “The Religious Factor Role in the Mongolian-Tibetan Relations in the 13th Century”; 

V.V. Tishin, the candidate of historical sciences, the senior researcher made a report "Again on the Qut Concept in the Monuments of the Ancient Türkic Runic Writings".
