Presentation of a new volume of Talmud translation and the project "Babylonian Talmud in Russian" will be held on the 28th of September, 2022 at 13:00 at the Center for the Talmud Study of History and Culture of the Ancient East Department (the Institute of Oriental Studies, Russian Academy of Sciences).

The presentation will feature a new translation edition of Talmud into Russian. Further, the staff of the Talmud Studies Center will talk on future scientific publications of Talmud and about the Center research programs.

L.P. Gorodetsky, a well-known philologist and translator, leads the project of Babylonian Talmud complete translation into Russian at Talmud Study Center of History and Culture of the Ancient East Department.

Russian orientalist N.A. Pereferkovich began working on Talmud translation at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. 
 
A Russian-Israeli group of scholarly translators and commentators led by L.R. Gorodetsky published a complete translation into Russian of Talmud of Babylon for the first time in 2006.
 
Talmud Study Center was established in 2021 under History and Culture of the Ancient East Department  (the Institute of Oriental Studies, Russian Academy of Sciences). The work on the scientific translation project of Talmud was completely transferred to the Center researchers. They base their work upon the scientific approach of the Israeli Rabbi A. Schteinsaltz, who created a translation of the Talmud from Mishnaic Hebrew and Aramaic into modern Israeli Hebrew.
 
Talmud Studies Center has recently released the 14th Volume of Talmud. In it one of the most important Jewish treatises was published for the first time in Russian - “Yoma" (on Yom Kippur holiday)” - the central point of “mental concentration”, the new meanings creation center of the Jewish cultural and civilizational system.
