The lecture hall "The World of the East" continues to work in full-time mode.

Lecturer: Rinat Ziganshin, the Candidate of Philosophy, the Researcher of the  Comparative Cultural Studies Department, (Institute of Oriental Studies, Russian Academy of Sciences)

Annotation: The Great Greek colonization era covered the 8th - 6th centuries BC. It followed the Dark Ages (or the Homeric Era, 11th - 9th centuries BC) and coincided with the Greek city states formation. Due to this historical period the Greek world expanded its borders and had a huge impact on the peoples inhabiting the Mediterranean and Black Seas basins, which also enriched Greek culture and civilization itself.

The main colonization factors were:

  • economic (territorial resources insufficiency of the city states for the livelihood of a rapidly growing population),
  • political (struggle for power between aristocratic groups in Greek policies),
  • and religious.

The religious factors were mainly associated with the Apollo cult, one of the many incarnations of this god was the sailors and settlers patronage. He was also considered the colonization deity and the founder of many cities.

The lecture hall "World of the East" invites everyone to join its work.
